Hello
Hi, my name is, Sumo. I'm a Cornwall based Graffiti Artist, illustrator, and advocate for more colour in everyday life.
If you want that too, you have come to the right place.
Shaped by hiphop, skate, surf and cartoon culture in the 90's, growing up I was filling my head with every type of nonsense I could and drawing it on anything I could...
and this is where its got me, so why not join me a be a part of this journey too?
My Story
I was eight years old, sat in the car with my Gran, when I first remember properly seeing spray paint on a wall. I just remember thinking 'wow!' and asking my Gran what it was on the walls over there, she said, "Graffiti, and it's disgusting!" and I said, "I think its amazing!", with the biggest stupidest look on my face that was in fashion at the time. soon after I found, Sidewalk surfer, a skateboarding magazine with amazing colourful and cartoony art on the decks, and it was done, I was locked in for life.
My teenage years came though and I was living life between mischief, surfing and partying, and enjoying it.
Fast forward again to my twenties and I'm tagging walls with road spray paint in war zones, as a Royal Marines Commando, who are the biggest bunch of miscreants I could find out of Cornwall.
on again to my 30's and I'm still, covertly running around in the dark, but in a less fatal roll......
commissions came in and I was given an opportunity by a friend Kelly and here I am, its taken me a while to get here, and we all pick up things along the way, but I'm learning more everyday.
